CBD Microdosing: Everything You Need To Know

CBD is one of the most therapeutic cannabinoids found in hemp. One of the most common problems for CBD users is that they don't know how to properly dose.

What is CBD Microdosing?

Microdosing is a technique that involves taking small amounts of CBD on a regular time-frame. This allows you to find the lowest dose necessary to feel the desired effects, and then taking more after those effects wear off.

If you're new to CBD, microdosing is a great way to understand the effects of CBD and how it interacts with your body.

If you're an experienced CBD user, microdosing is a great way to reset your system and get back into your optimal therapeutic dosage range, as we can develop a tolerance over time.

How Does CBD Microdosing Work?

Let's assume that each morning you take 30mg of CBD for various ailments.

When you're microdosing, you're breaking down the total daily amount, in this case 30mg of CBD, into five individual 6mg doses that you take in the morning, at lunchtime, in the middle of the afternoon, with supper, and right before you go to bed.

The 30mg of CBD dose doesn't change, you are just taking smaller doses multiple times throughout the day to reach a total of 30mg.

The main difference is if you take the full 30mg dose in the morning, the effects might start wearing off later in the day. By breaking it down into microdose, you are spreading the effects of CBD throughout the day.

Everyone experiences different degrees of effectiveness when they consume CBD. That's why trial and error is recommended to figure out the best dosing for you.

Why Microdose CBD?

Our Endocannabinoid (ECS) system helps regulate our body such as our appetite, our mood, sleep, hormonal balance, pain, memory and various cognitive processes. If anything interferes, we will moody, stressed out, anxious etc.

Our ECS system has two main receptors, CB1 & CB2 that cannabinoids interacts with when dosing. When CBD & THC enters our body, they interact directly with these receptors, albeit in different ways.

Microdosing CBD allows our body to store more CBD on our CB1 & CB2 receptors so that it can act on the precursors for inflammation & pain.

Microdosing THC can give our body pain relief, stress and anxiety reduction and improved sleep without being psychoactive.

Microdosing is particularly helpful because instead of taking a full dose at once, your body will tend to maintain consistent levels of endocannbinoids, enabling you to enjoy its full health and therapeutic benefits throughout the day. By doing so, it is harder to build a tolerance to CBD.

How To Microdose CBD Safely?

CBD is not toxic and taking too much CBD will not have any serious side effects.

However, properly taking and dosing CBD will deliver optimal results. Your optimal microdose will be different for everyone.

1) Start Small: Start your microdosing by taking 1mg to 2mg of CBD.

2) Monitor: Over the next one or two hours, monitor how your body reacts. Remember, everyone reacts differently to CBD.

3) Adjust Your Dosage: Increase your CBD dosage by 1mg or 2mg if needed and continue to monitor the effects.

Here's another example of microdosing:

8 am – 1 drop of CBD oil

9 am – 2 drops of CBD oil

10 am – 3 drops of CBD oil

11 am – 4 drops of CBD oil

12 pm – 5 drop of CBD oil

When adjusting your dosage, we recommend to increase it slowly, ie 1mg of CBD, until you can feel the tangible effects and hit your sweet spot. It can take a few days before this happens.

Microdosing with CBD Tinctures

With tinctures, there's Two measurements that needs attention: the liquid ML measurement of the oil, and the MG measurement of the CBD concentration within the liquid.

To understand tincture dosing, it's important to know the serving size which is typically 1ml, or one full dropper. Make sure to read the labels as sometimes serving sizes can vary.

To find the strength per serving, divide the total CBD mg of the bottle by the total number of servings. For example, a 1000mg tincture in a 30mL bottle has 30 1mL servings which is 33.3mg of CBD per servings.

In order to microdose a tincture, it's important to know how many mL the bottle is and how much CBD mg there is. As an example, if your dropper has 24 drops in a 1 mL serving, and each dropper full is 33mg of CBD, then one drop comes out to just about 1.4mg of CBD per drop. So, instead of taking one full dropper of 33mg of CBD at one time, instead, you ingest 2mg of CBD every hour or two to gradually feel the effects and find out the right amount for your body.

Make sure to pay attention as to how your body and mind feels and adjust  your dosage accordingly.
